Dear Hjelmslev, Thank you for your kind letter and good wishes which I heartily reciprocate. Your lectures here helped quite a number to prepare themselves for the newer approaches in Linguistics which I too am doing my best to open up« I have just done a paper on Sounds and Prosodies for the Philological Society and I shall be glad to have your reactions when you receive your next number of Transactions. British Columbia hase done nothing about phonetics, but, when I am in America during the summer, I may be able to get some- thing across to their representative. Uldall will find lots of opportunities for research in Tucuman and Daniel Jones has one of the young lecturers from there under training at the moment. No further’ news of interest.

Very sincerely yours,

Dr. Louis Hjelmslev, Ordruph/jvej HO, Charlottenlund.
