Dear Professor Weinreich, Please find enclosed my proofs, and please excuse the delay. I had submitted my manuscript to a few colleagues for comment, and their remarks made me consider certain al- terations, and this took me some time to decide. You •will see that after all I have entered very few alterations. Although the printer has done excellent work as a whole, there are quite a number of misprints. I wonder whether there will be time to send me a second proof; I can send it back to you by air-mail immediately. Or would you take the trouble May I call your attention particularly to the table on galley 7: the signs I want are:
