Les séances académiques se tiendront h l'Hétel Benjamin Franklin et å 1'American Philosophical Society située prés de l'hétel. Le banquet de cloture du Congrés aura lieu å Philadelphie. Des excursions sont prévues pour visiter les points d'intérét de la ville et de ses environs.
Une feuille d’inscription, accompagnant le Bulletin No. 3 qui sera envoyé au cours du printemps 1962, devra étre renvoyée avant le ler juin 1962. The Xth International Congress of the History of Science will be held at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York from 26 August to 31 August 1962 and at The American Philosophical Society, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 31 August to 2 September 1962. Communications on the following subjects are invited, and will be assigned to the appropriate sections:

Notification that you wish to read a paper must reach the Secretary no later than 1 May 1962. Oral presentation of these papers will be strictly limited to 15 minutes. An abstract, not to exceed 200 words, must be submitted in a clean typescript (suitable for reproduction) to the Secretary of the Con- gress no later than 1 May 1962. No paper may be read for the author in his absence. For publication in the Actes of the Congress, a finished typescript must be handed to the Secretary immediately after the session at which the paper is read. It must not exceed 1500 words in length. It is not necessary to present a paper in order to participate in the Congress. Official Languages
Communications must be presented in English, French or Russian according to a provision of the General Assembly of the Division of the History of Science of the International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science. Scholars presenting papers in Russian are asked to send the Secretary full English or French translations to be copied for distribution at the session. A scholar who wishes to present his paper in a language other than English, French or Russian should submit a full translation into French or English before 1 July 1962. This will be read for him in his presence. In the ensuing discussionhe may reply from the floor in his chosen language and, where possible, arrangements will be made to translate his remarks. Those who desire such translation facilities, or visual aids (slide projectors, etc.,) for presentation of their papers, must give adequate notice to the Secretary of the Congress.
2B. For Congress participants and their guests from the United States:
General Plans for the Congress Subject to minor revisions, the Congress activities will be as follows: On the afternoon of Sunday, 26 August 1962, Congress participants and accompanying guests will register on the Cornell University Campus in Willard Straight Hall where an informal reception will be held at 8 p.m. A Cornell residential hall, where single and double rooms will be available and where meals will be served, has been set aside to house the members of the Congress during the stay in Ithaca. The total cost for these accommodations, including meals, will be between $40 and $50 per person. Details of other ac- commodations near the University Campus will be given in Bulletin No. 3. The opening session of the Congress will be held in the Alice Statler Auditorium at 10 a.m. on 27 August. Participants, guests and the public may attend. The academic sessions are to be held in lecture halls of the University. They will be open only to participants and registered adult guests. Excursions are planned to the Corning Glass Museum at Corning, New York, and to other points of interest in the Cornell University area. On the afternoon of Friday, 31 August, the Congress will move to Philadelphia, where accommo- dations will be available at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel, the new headquarters of the Congress. Academic sessions will be held at the Hotel and The American Philosophical Society nearby. The final banquet of the Congress is to beheld in Philadelphia. Sightseeing walks and bus tours are planned in the Philadelphia area. Travel Information A. For Congress participants and their guests from outside the United States: Visitors coming from abroad are urged to make their travel arrangements through Thos. Cook & Son or Wagons-Lits/Cook, the Official Travel Agent of the Congress, tf enough participants agree to travel by chartered plane, a special arrangement can be made with one of the major international airlines for such a flight, leaving Paris in the late evening of 22 August. If enough participants agree to travel by it, a char- tered flight leaving New York on 8 September would be organized. Chartered planes substantially reduce travel costs. Cook offers two alternative plans for travel from New York to Cornell University for registration on 26 August: 1) Three days in New York with or without local sightseeing, ending with a one-hour flight to Ithaca. or 2) Two nights in New York followed by a flight to Niagara Falls, with transportation to Ithaca on 26 August. Travel by chartered bus from Ithaca to Philadelphia on 31 August will be arranged through Cook. Cook also offers a sighseeing tour from Philadelphia after the Congress. The tour will include Gettysburg, Washington, D.C., Mt. Vernon, the Civil War battlefields and the Shenandoah Valley, MonticelLo (Thomas Jefferson's home, Richmond, Williamsburg and other points of historical interest in Virginia. The tour will end in New York in ample time to connect with the return chartered flight. Those needing financial assistance for travel should apply immediately to the appropriate National Committee of the International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science. Most of those attending the Congress who are not U.S. citizens will need visas, and must also satisfy the requirements of the U.S. Immigration Service with respect to a recent vaccination against smallpox. It is essential that early application for a visa be made to the appropriate United States Embassy or Consulate. If difficulties are encountered in obtaining visas, please inform the Secretary of the Congress promptly.
Those coming from the United States may either make their own arrangements or use the services of Thos. Cook & Son. Those not travelling in their own cars should reserve with Cook for transportation from Ithaca to Philadelphia by chartered bus on 31 August. Americans who plan to be abroad that summer may find it convenient to return by the chartered flight described above. Advance Registration Bulletin No. 3, to be mailed in the Spring of 1962, will include a participation form to be filled out and sent to the Secretary before 1 June 1962 together with the Congress fees and payment for the accom- modations and meals in Ithaca. The fee for participants is $12; and for each member of the family accom- panying the participant, $5. Adequate facilities cannot be provided for children under 10 years of age. The Actes of the Congress will be sent to the participants when they are published and will also be put on general sale. Special Note Bulletin No. 3 will be sent ONLY to those who have returned a tear sheet either from Bulletin No. 1 or Bulletin No. 2 BEFORE 15 January 1962. Bulletin No. 3 will contain final participation forms and ad- ditional information about climate, clothing, travel details and mode of payment for accommodations and for payment of the Congress fee.
